Keragaman

Indonesia In the Eyes Of The Young

As young people and the next generation, how should we perceive Indonesia? Is it; our homeland, our source of food and resources, or merely just islands, where we live in? Do we need to; preserve it's nature, use it's resources, or just do nothing about it? Is Indonesia; our only hope, our only chance, or one out of millions of chances and hope in the world? Do we need to; love Indonesia, respect Indonesia, or ignore Indonesia? How should we perceive Indonesia, as the next generation? This generation has been threwn a series of problems, and with no manual of how to solve all of that. The generation before us regard us as the saviour of our country, and they are always forcing us on how to perceive Indonesia. But what perspective do we truly  need to believe in, to see? Will it make a difference, our perspective? Yes. Perspective is everything . As the leading generation, we should regard Indonesia as our only hope, and our only chance at a better life, and that's ...

Indonesia In 30 Years

I think that in 30 years which is 2046, Indonesia will be more stable, we will have a better financial state and we will have MRTs in big cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya. We will be able to export more of our goods to lots of countries and get money for the country. I don't really think that the people will be able to change because that's a more challenging task. There's like 250 million people in Indonesia, and if everyone changes it would take probably 100 years. I really hope that the education has changed, and children don't feel forced to go to school anymore, I hope that teachers will pay more attention to children in class and children will be able to study based on what they really want. I want children's intelligence to not be graded based on their academics, but from how they interact with others, and how they feel. In 30 years, Indonesia will have a great team of representations in the UN (hopefully including me!) and we will be able to have great t...

Teach Girls Bravery, Not Perfection

Today in English Class I chose to write a blogpost about a TED Talk from Reshma Saujani, a lawyer and politician who also happens the founder of tech organization Girls Who Code. Her TED Talk is called "Teach Girls Bravery, Not Perfection". She spoke on how we are afraid of making mistakes, and we demand much more than boys our age. Boys would get a 50 on their tests and be satisfied, but a girl, for example would cry because she feels as if she has disappointed people and she can do better, and she would ask for a remedial. Reshma talked about the very real difference between girls and boys, girls would hesitate to raise their hands when they don't understand, in the shame of them not understanding, but boys would raise their hands with no problem. This happens beneath our noses, and we don't speak of this phenomenon, as if it doesn't matter how girls are raised. Before I say anything, I'm explaining that this is purely my opinion and in no way I am intendi...

Mid-Semester Review

Today I have my Mid-Semester review, which consists of writing a review on a Jakarta Post article. A review that I very much like, because since the age of 8, I've started reading The Jakarta Post, so I'm good with it. The article that I chose is "UN to grill RI on rising rights abuse" by Hans Nicholas Jong. I chose this because A) I love the UN, B) Nara Masista, my new favourite Indonesian figure is mentioned and C) I'm a huge human rights defender (I wouldn't call myslef an activist, because I haven't done anything significant yet). The sentence that intrigues me the most is the mention of violation of religion, because I'm not a Muslim, so in Indonesia I'm quite a minority. Ifind itnot very shocking that Indonesia seals down other religious worshipping places because I have heard of it. My ears aren't a stranger to religious violence or even the executions in Aceh which they consider is right according to Sharia,  the religious law of Islam...

Ekspedisi Kecil

Setelah s...
