Mid Semester Exhibition

For the last three days,Anjasmoro, Malabar and Sinabung has been busy coordinating a mid-semester exhibition and also a presentation on our newly finished projects.

Anjasmoro and Malabar presented their projects in groups, whilst Sinabung had a private presentation with Kakak about their learning process. Anjasmoro presented their projects in a short video of each of them narrating problems in Bandung that are sensed with our mouth, our nose, our ears, our eyes and our hands. They narrated it with the help of wooden cubes that are covered in illustrations of the problems they encountered.

As they are quite new to presentating in front of many people, I can sense that the majority of them were still very timid and shy while presentating, whilst I could see some of them excelling and confidently explaining their videos. Bening also confessed to me that despite being a bit tense and not ready, but it went well.

Besides the project presentation, Anjasmoro had other projects in the exhibition. Fathan explained to me that there was a sensing journal which was an accompany to the illustrated cubes, an article on one artist that they like in English that was a project from Kak Andy, which was given a deadline of two weeks, and posters of the difference between SMP 12 and Semi Palar.

From my class, Malabar we presented a decent amount of projects, the first is for IPA, which is about the Digestion system, some made a booklet and some made a poster. My group made a poster.

The second is learning about systematic thinking by making a wallet with a friends liking, so it was as if we had a client. In this project we made a paper design of a wallet step by step to familiarize us with thinking systematically.

The third is the local regulations manuscript, we had 4 categories of regulations, that was economy, education, social matters and wastes. We only altered the regulations that were already made and made a socialization poster, that we would use to spread the regulations.

The fourth is the sensing journals, which were two locations. The first was around the school and the second was around the Town hall. In the Town hall sensing journal we also had to interview a series of people about regulations and its socialization.

The last one is our portofolio, which is where we put all of our papers, from mindmaps until articles.

Sinabung also had some projects, the most eye-catching one is the short animation about Folklores. There was the Nyi Roro Kidul Folklore, the "Tokek" folklore and the folklore about land.

They also had the designs of traditional houses, and they were planning on making the 3D versions, but as the time was mainly used on the animation, they only had time to make the 2D version, which was like a poster.

The overall exhibition was not bad, but it wasn't good either. I think it's not that good because of the amount of protests we got from parents who actually came to see their kids presentate didn't get to watch them because of the delay, because some kids weren't ready for the presentation on time. Also because the decoration was very minimal and the exhibition wasn't lively. Some visitors also complained of the lack of guides, so they had to look at the projects by themselves.

I think the main reason why it wasn't that good is because the classes didn't coordinate as much and we only had a very short amount of time to prepare for the exhibition.
